Welcome to the Ethiopian Muslims Association of Seattle’s New Muslim Converts Services. We are here to provide guidance, support, and resources for those who have embraced Islam or are considering converting. Our mission is to help you on your journey towards understanding and practicing Islam in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Services and Support

1. Educational Workshops : We offer workshops and classes to help new converts learn about the basics of Islam, including the pillars of faith, prayer, fasting, and other essential aspects of the religion.
2. Community Integration : We encourage new converts to become an active part of our vibrant Muslim community in Seattle. Our events and social gatherings provide opportunities to connect with fellow Muslims and build meaningful relationships.
3. Resource Library : Access a wide range of educational materials, books, and online resources to deepen your understanding of Islam.
4. Prayer Support : We offer assistance in learning how to perform the daily prayers and can provide guidance on how to recite Quranic verses correctly.
5. Cultural Sensitivity : Our team is well-versed in the diverse cultural backgrounds of our new converts, ensuring that your transition into the Muslim community is as smooth as possible.

Requirements for New Muslim Converts

1. Sincerity : Embrace Islam with a sincere heart and a genuine desire to follow its teachings.
2. Declaration of Faith (Shahada) : To officially convert to Islam, one must recite the Shahada, bearing witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger.
3. Learn the Basics : Make an effort to learn the fundamentals of Islam, including the five pillars, daily prayers, and basic Islamic beliefs.
4. Participation : Engage with the community, attend workshops and classes, and be open to guidance and mentorship.
5. Respect : Show respect for the beliefs and practices of others within the community.
6. Patience : Understand that learning and adapting to a new way of life may take time, and be patient with yourself as you progress.
